On this one, the sellers pictures were just fine.......it's what they didn't see or describe that made it a good buy. Sellers: Mine:
Thank you Frank! I don't actively seek out errors, but this was the first I've seen on an SLQ and thought it was interesting!
I gambled on eBay a bit this past week. Here are some photos The obverse should be nice on this Merc Hoping these are all BU, look like there is some nice gold rim toning. $50 gamble.
Ok here's a newbie on the eBay bad picture gamble Sellers photos ^a much closer representation of what's in hand. I am very pleased with this coin. I love Seated Liberty quarters, and I really like the 76-CCs for some reason. So this was a win all the way around. Very pleasing surfaces on this coin
Not much of a gamble, considering that NGC did give it a star. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it in hand, though. Seller's pic: Mine:
Yea when I pulled out my Canada cent album I paid 125 for the set missing the 4 key large cents in the set... I found quite a few nice gem large cents... Always wanted to slabb them but to expensive rite now
Great find. You must have been like a kid on Christmas when you opened the package and viewed the coin. Well done!
It's always tricky buying a coin from the love-token age with only 1 side shown! I'd have bid $30+ based on the VF-EF details and pray the reverse didn't have someone's name carved in it :-(
I've been out of this hobby over the holidays, but am getting ready to buy again! Picked this one up right at the end of December. It's not a bad picture by the seller at all, but rather a case study in conservation. I've wanted this particular date for a while because of the lower mintage (business strike), but getting it in proof is always welcome! The coin had a slight, overall brownish "gunk" which mostly obscured the mirror-like surface, but it was still obviously a proof and sold as such. I hoped that a quick acetone bath could help....and not only did it help, by removing the "gunk", a light cameo started to show! A few dunks later and I'm happy! Sellers: Mine:
Pure, straight, 100% unadulterated :-D Worked well enough, but by "quick dip" I actually mean several hours of soaking. Hehehe
Only time will tell! I hope it's true, but I'll only know once I get the coin in hand! - browsing 2008 ASE bullion looking for ones with a rev. of 2007 - found one in a ICG holder without the designation - 3 pictures available: 1 of coin in slab (2008), 2nd of obverse, but was said 1995 and the third was an obverse that showed rev. of 2007 - If this works out, it would be a nice score as I paid <$60 for the coin - seller has return privleges and if they had an incorrect listing, they'll pay for the return shipping. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
