    Listed as a 1927 dime.

Looks like a 27-S to me

Where is the weak d? I don't see it. Not that I collect gold or know what to look for.

27-S came today. Previously cleaned. Still a decent looking coin for $5 shipped.

Sometimes there is literally no sign of a D. You have to know what else to look for

I don't know the value of the other coins, but I would have paid about $120-$150 for the gold $1, depending on condition.

Yea I'm hoping it's in decent condition. I'm thinking the obverse needs a soak in some acetone, we'll see what that does.

I agree and I also do that, too. But, needless to say, I also check his other items, their pictures, feedbacks and even try to guess what his expertise are.

I've seen some sellers use that same logic reverse to sell a damaged or harshly cleaned coins that with a good picture would not sell.

I recently bought 8 Barber Halves for about $55 shipped from this picture and it was ...meh.... but not a completely bad deal at all.

The rest of 7 coins were a lot worse, worn.

    Big Tee:
look at the lump in front of the (obv) eye, and by the 8, under the eye, etc.

looks like a possible cast fake

In regards to the barber dime, that is a fair chance to take I think. That's the kind of of coin I say to myself. (I'll pay the return shipping to see this in person) sometimes that pays off sometimes it doesn't. (of course it also depends how much you gambled on it)
