Thanks! Not every gamble turns out like this. I also bought a 1907 from the seller that was stated the same but looked brown instead of RED which the title said. Paid $10 for that one. Looks maybe XF/AU. The 1853 is sweet! Love taken a little risk.
i LOVE that! i always take chances like that, because a lot of the time they will get little to no other bids so you get it for way cheap most of the time. how much did you buy this for if you don't mind me asking?
I took a rather decent gamble this week on eBay. I don't have the coin in hand but here's the sellers pictures I have a feeling this one will turn out pretty good. It is TPG graded in a low mint state grade. I think the toning is gonna be pretty good and the coin will look rather nice once properly photographed.
Both of those were excellent finds! Id love to have a CC morgan, just havent found one at a reasonable price that i liked. I did snag a Proof Like Morgan this weekend for about $65, thought that was nice, book value was near twice that.
I picked up a Morgan a year+ ago on eBay and forgot about it until recently. Sent it off to Anacs got graded MS 62 DM so i'm happy about that.
Okay so this wasn't really much of a gamble, but I bought these three morgan dollars for $65. The description listed the coins as 1878, 1879 and 1901. Other than the crazy low price for three morgans, if you look closely at the coin in the center, you'll see why it was a "no brainer."
This thread also shows the reason why good pictures are a necessity when buying or selling a coin. It prevents over and under valuation. Most of us will do both in our life time.
