If genuine it's a Valens Solidus, dated 364 to 368.

They weigh 4.4g if not shaved or cut, and generally range between 4.1g and 4.4g.

They often have thin edges, as the coin is thin and sometimes the flan can be uneven.

EDIT - how did the jeweler measure the purity? It should be at least 23K, not 22K.

I am appreciating that a coin can be lost in the ground for 1650 years and then be found again. If genuine, that’s the most fascinating part of this for me.

I hate to be a party pooper, but for those who think it is authentic, what do you think it is supposed to be? Valens, yes, but can you find a similar coin in archives or references? As far as I can tell, that reverse design was used for a medallion-sized coin weighing twice what the OP coin weighs... and the one example in ACsearch sold for ~$125,000 (NAC 88, 2015). That auction listing says that particular coin is unique and previously unreported.

Could this be another unique and unreported coin with the same design but at a solidus weight? Perhaps, but the odds are that there is a less exciting explanation.

This coin is not ancient, it is a modern fake.

The jeweler shop scratches it on black think than she put some liquid. Than she say it gold
I ask what kind of gold she say around 22k

Than I take it old jewelry shop he say it's gold but the edge very sharp maybe not original this what make me feeling not happy
