I have two stories that I would like to share with everyone - and they are coin related too.

Several months ago (in fact, its been so long I can't remember the exact month) but it has been a while, I dropped a roll of silver dimes in my office. I picked them all up, but I couldn't for the life of me find one lousy dime. I looked everywhere. I tore the place apart and finally just gave up. Figured that some day when I move 30 years from now I will find it. Well, several weeks ago my wife brings to my attention a weird noise coming from the dryer. It was a screeching/rattling noise. Each time it would start, I would go over to the dryer and bang on it and it would go away. Finally, a few days ago, I decided to investigate a bit more and take off the front of the dryer. Can you guess what I found........!!!!! Yes you all guessed it..... that lousy dime. It must have bounced into my pant cuff and came out in the wash. Neat.

This next story will definitely certify my craziness. Ok, sitting in my office tonight looking at rolls of silver Washington quarters when one goes flying out of my hand... bounce, bounce, bounce.... right down the heating vent. So I pull off the vent cover and begin to reach for the quarter. No luck. So then I grab a small pole that I had and reach down into the vent. Blindly I start tapping around in the tubing, feeling around for the quarter. Finally, I hear it hit the pole. So now I wrap packing tape around the pole and reach down into the vent to try to snag the quarter. The tape actually grabs it, but the tape got stuck on the sides of the tubing and the tape pulled off. So for the next half hour I try sticking that pole down there trying to snag the tape with the quarter on it. I had it once but lost it as I pulled it up. I could here it rolling back down the vent tubing. So now I run out to the garage and grab a plumber's snake. I spend another half hour trying to snag the tape and the quarter. In the process, I hear the quarter fall off the tape and continue to move down the venting. I snagged the tape once, but that too fell off and rolled back down the venting. I was about to give up, but that crap would drive me crazy..... so under the house I went. My crawl space under the house is a good 3feet, so on my belly I crawled to the vent tubing. Fortunately, I didn't have far to crawl. I couldn't take off the tubing so what I did was tap the quarter back up the vent tubing until it wouldn't go any further. Then I crawled back out, stomped through an inch of snow, came back inside, took a beating from my wife for tracking in mud and snow, stripped down to my skivvies (ok, you probably don't want that visual) went back to the vent to start all over again... did I mention that I put some fresh clothes on? Fortunately, the quarter was right there, but just out of reach from my hand. So I wrapped tape around the pole again and very carefully lowered it back into the vent and snagged the quarter and the old tape that fell off! Sweet. "All that for 25 cents" my wife says, chuckling, I reply back that this wasn't ANY 25 cents.... it was silver.

Well persistence paid off. :rolling:
