I on the other hand think it probably was well received at least the first two or three years worth) as evidenced by the very large number of very worn coins today, and the rapid redemption of the fractional currency which was not wanted, and the fact that for most of those three years or so there were very few pieces of money available with face values less than a dollar. And a dollar was a lot of money.
