clembo, general are you guys coming to the paer money expo next week. or will we just talk this year as well and not meet up?
No im going to go for sure......I can use you guys to guide me of whatever mistakes I might make buying )) Not to mention I would be nice to put a face with the name...lol
Good deal...yeah im gonna take my little sister boy friend with me as well......hes got loot, but knows nothing about currency. I might have to use him as a backer....lol Not to mention I have never been to a coin show or paper expo for that matter. I think it will be interesting. I might have to bring all those tens and twenties with me. Maybe a vendor or dealer might buy them. But then again I think I might have a better price out come on ebay
you are going to con your lil sis boy friend. if he starts a fight with you once he gets wiser after the expo you ar eon your own. i should be there after lunch on saturday. i am looking for just 2 notes to finish my collection so it will give me a unique oppty to just looka t stuff and decide where fancy takes me. save your money for the CSS next month heitage and pcgs will both be there and so there will be plenty of $ to spend and then whate ver remains can go to the cicf
STILL recovering from my wife's long unemployment. Going to look at a bunch of awesome notes when I have no "normal" notes is too depressing.
Seemed to have touched a nerve here. You're very lucky clembo. Not to have been shot. Although not shot, I was stabbed in the chest back iin the military. Just walking back to the base in Charleston Hieghts, SC. Spent two months in the hospital living on tubes. They got 12 dollars. So now you know. And whats with the ''Can you play it?'' thing? Who's the one talking tough? Good taste and the moderator prohibit me from going further.
Nope I'm not talking tough. I'm talking sense here. You've obviously "played it". Wrong place, wrong time and got knifed for it. You're ex military and got stabbed OVER HERE. First I commend you for serving our country. Second I'm honestly glad that you survived. We wouldn't be having this "conversation" if you hadn't now would we? Now the talking sense part. Did you enjoy being stabbed? Was it a "thrill" having a sharpened piece of metal thrust into your body? Would you like to have it happen again? Most of us here are giving advice NOT to wear a shirt like that because (just call us silly) perhaps the OP has never experienced such a "thrill" and may never want to. We are giving advice based on reality. Yours was obviously reality so why in the world would you even suggest that someone else possibly place themself in a situation to experience this reality? Yes, live life to it's fullest. I'm not afraid - I'm not an idiot either. Crime happens so why tempt it?
Congrats to all for playing nice, just some good ole' fashioned discussion about getting shot and stabbed and what not. But seriously, I am worried about the OP, we have not heard from him in awhile, I hope he didn't go wearing his shirt out in public.
I dont think the guy meant every one should wear that shirt all the time. At the bank, on the bus, etc.. For instance my grandkids gave me a birthday card in which they drew coins with dollar and cent symbols. Telling thier dad,''Papa likes coins so we have to do this.''. They are five and four y.o. Now I love that card, but I wouldnt put on my desk at work because I dont want some seeing it and be tempted to see how much I love coins. I think he meant wearing it in front of friends and family much like you would wear a 'Kiss the cook' apron. And most of the time I am only kidding around when I type replies to this sort of topic. I dont really have a meth lab. I sold it . Now I deal smack.
Quote from original post: "I know garage sales, flea markets, and coin shows are about to really take off so I make up a shirt to let everyone know what I'm looking for." It was not designed to be worn like a "I love the cook" apron. I think that's why this thread has gone on and on. Even though several posters had constructive suggestive and positive comments, OP decided to focus on the ones that didn't agree 100% with the idea. Another thread that sort of exploded.
Truce? I am really glad that your here. I've been known to be a bit sarcastic myself. Happens doesn't it? - but he sure did get a lot of opinions in the meantime!
Well, I'm not sure how you include the multiple quotes all in one response but I only have two so here goes: 1 - while I agree w/being safe, I also know that there are many people here who's collection probably holds a lower value than an MP3 player or Rolex, yet those are displayed in public every day. I felt the criticism was a bit over kill until 2 - the OP referenced his relative the coin dealer considers us (forum members) small minded, uniformed and no real clue but didn't respond how he defended the forum. So now I think the shirts are a bad idea, so there. ::: rasberry noise::: I think this is a great forum with very intelligent contributions.
