To me it looks like a normal zinc cent with a stain. Also looks like a plating blister on the reverse at 9:00.

    Normal? U don't think this is a reverse of a 1989?

I did not know the 1988 cent had a variety until now. Thanks for the listing and the information.

Definitely a Rev. of ‘89…the bottom of the Memorial/close-up of the FG…gives you a good assessment of the wear condition. I would go AU53-55…imo…Spark

Based on the info provided in post #11, at AU55 it is worth 65 cents.

Anyone wanting to know how I reached this value, send me a PM.

Wow! Surprised with your toss up value. I disagree! Its all good. This is what Cointalk is about. Q & A about Coins :)

The 65 cent valuation was based on a series of mathematical calculations that, frankly, turned out to be unrealistic and contrary to modern grading criteria.

Based on the grades and values listed at PCGS, the value = $33.75 for an AU55.

Lacking additional info (at this time) I am uncertain what the actual value is. Maybe someone else has an insight…imo…Spark
@Amberlarry22 …what do you think it is worth?

Edit to add: After additional research, PCGS lists MS60BN at $35.00, which calculates to around $31.00 for a AU55BN.

I was gonna go with $30. Thanks for your input. That sounds better than 65 cents

@Amberlarry22 …Yeah, I was playing devil’s advocate and played the 65 cent result. So you can put your heart back in your chest again and breathe easy.

But the applied math was not in vain, nor a waste of time. I discovered the mathematical progression I was using was not valid in this application.

BTW, I found one 2 years ago: an AU58+RD…Spark
