Better start hitting the weights...people tend not to try and intimidate others who much bigger and stronger. At least that's been my experience.

If you had possession of the piece you should have told him to whistle,I would have. It's not like you can't find another auction to patronize. If they make an error and you pay the goods are yours where i'm from.....

Yup.. that's our little buddy spreading his whinefest all over the web.

I'm sorry, fellas, but why anyone is taking this remotely seriously is beyond me. Perhaps it did happen just as he says, but considering the amount of BS this boy has shoveled on this forum, does he really deserve the sympathy or benefit of the doubt? If we've learned anything from his antics it should be that with Timmy, there is always a boogyman out there who done him wrong, and if there isn't a real one he'll just make one up. Does anyone remember the "old hoardsters" with nothing better to do than outbid him at auctions? Dreadlocked pajama girl? Just two examples of many. This person isn't an auction novice child, but a full grown man who, by his own word, has been attending and whining about them for years now. Don't get sucked into a new version of the Detecto Show...

You were part of a scam. I have seen this happen many times. Generally, if they've never seen you they put a gold coin anywhere from $5-$20 in a flip with a bunch of junk. How strange nobody else bidded on it. You win the coin like you did for $3.00 with the other junk, someone starts to complain, why didn't that person bid on the coin if he thought it was worth so much? Auctioneer confronts like he did in an intimidating way. Just consider yourself lucky on this one.

You whimped out on him because normally the buyer would say I'll give you the $160 and I'll keep the coin and the seller is happy. Auctioneer takes your $160 when you go to pay for your lots all of a sudden you find that the real gold coin was changed for a fake one. Who are you going to complain to? No one saw the transaction between you and the auctioneer. This happens in a lot of small auctions.

... I'm surprised no one else is mentioning that this story is almost a word for word clone of the one on the eBay forums ...

They are both authored by Detecto, and here is how to tell for certain:

The last sentence in that picture shows his love for the word 'of' instead of the proper use of 'have'. I don't know how many times he's been called out on that here.

I can't wait until this thing is on page 16, makes for entertaining reading. Should be there by morning.

I'm puzzled as to how Our Hero managed to scam the scammers for $80, then. Seems like a fairly substantial flaw for a "common scam".

  20. I think I get it now. This local auction is likely Tim's "honey hole" for his eBay site. He probably did not want to do anything to upset the auctioneer, or it might impact his online selling. If this is the case, then taking the $80 may have been the best choice. Of course, venting about it online may come back to haunt him if the auctioneer sees it.
