Judging from all the Icelandic coins plus these medal/coins I have sent in I would thing they would get MS-63 across the board. I know some of you would think that these medals/coins would grade more,,,,They might,,but since NGC has become more conservative on world coins and even more on medals,,,which is what they would grade them as,,,I wouldn't expect a grade higher then a 63 to 64. Never the less they are a super set.
Thanks Iceman, my biggest concern is storage. If I get them back 63 or 64 I will be thrilled for sure.
No, there was NO public outcry. The change adding the chain mail was the decision of the designer alone. In fact the change was illegal because the original design had been approved and then some specific changes were authorized and it was stressed that the requested changes ONLY be made. The addition of the chain mail was NOT one of the changes requested.
Hello 1066merlin, If it is not out of line for me to ask, could you please send me a PM with the amount you paid for these three coins? I would like to know because if I ever run across one, I would like to maybe buy it but I have no idea what a reasonable price might be. Thanks in advance & if you prefer not to send the PM then I understand. Again, thanks for posting them!
Truly interesting coins (and medals)! Thanks for posting, all. I think Standing is vulgar sometimes, too.
actually, presuming that you are talking about the Ty 1 Standing Liberty quarter, There is no proof of this, that there was a public outcry over the design. Other opinions included that 'Miss Liberty was going to war'. and she was 'armored' was a result of the US's entry into WWI. The idea of a public outcry over her being exposed has been related for nearly a century, but no evidence of that has ever been found, including editorials (in newspapers) letters to the editor, etc.
