Let me tell you a few things I am not, might help me figure out what I am (numismatically speaking). ;) I am not an expert in any area of numismatics. I don't specialize in any one coin series. I have never written a coin article, published or otherwise. I don't pretend to be able to grade coins. I don't feel confident in buying raw coins. I certainly cannot authenticate coins / discern good fakes. I don't have any interest in Die Pairings or niche varieties. (or anything needing a microscope) I don't really have much interest in "error" coins. I honestly don't know much about specific coin history, except at surface level. I don't know much about the history or methods of coin minting. I know literally zero about Ancients and World Coins. I know zero about paper money. I have never tried to "upgrade" a coin at a TPG / make money on a coin. So, having established that, do I know anything about Coins? Well, I am strictly a US Coin Type Set collector of non-proof coins that are TPG graded. My only real goal is to have single representative coin from each US coin series that has even a single date at any straight grade that I can afford and that I personally find visually appealing and problem-free, and whenever possible with a CAC sticker. I would also add that I enjoy the cataloging, organizing, coin photography, and displaying/sharing part of the hobby. I also like that stats / data aspect, which sometimes can provide fun content for a coin forum. I take decent coin images, and have a love/hate for the coin photography part of the hobby. But right here on CoinTalk, there are at least 4 people I can think of that take superior coin photos, they would be experts, not me. So the one area of collecting that I would likely be better than most at (that no one else has mentioned yet): the efficient searching, cataloging, naming, storing, and retrieving of coin images, coin information in databases, coin values, etc. Basically, I would make a really great digital coin Librarian! :D But there is also only so much cataloging you can do with a 130 coin collection. :wacky: In the end, I like coins, always have. I wish it was more than that sometimes, but really, it's that simple and my coin knowledge does not go much deeper than that.
