New to this venture. Been hunting rolls of cents. Looking for wheat cents. Just went through 2000 and only found 2? What is the average find? Also looking for 2009 bicentennial cents. Not really into error ones as too difficult to id them. Anything else I should look for? Thanks for any info.
Welcome to Coin Collecting and CoinTalk. I find on average 6 wheats per box of $25.00 face. When I can get coin counting machine $50.00 bags I average around 20 per bag. Not many left in the wild older than mid 40's. You will have better luck with quarters for the W mint mark, or to fill State and ATB sets from circulation.
I only search $25 boxes of cents when I used to get boxes i was average 40-60 wheaties per box now my average is 20-30 wheaties per every $25 worth of customer wrapped rolls my oldest find is a 1918 haven't been getting realy anything in quarter/dime rolls so I went to all penny searching.
Curious? Did you find many if the 2009 bicentennial cents? I rarely see them in change and I don't crh.
Its getting realy hard to make full circulated sets if wheats from the wild. Last one I made was a whitman 41-74 set and it took me around 6 months and going through around 1400$ worth of pennies. The steel cents were the hardest. Those I only found a crusty 1943 s. I got lucky and found the p and d along with a couple silver dimes in a coinatar reject slot after someone grandkids dumped a collection. It is possible just extremly hard
Have found a few 2009 bicentennial cents. Many are not in very good shape. Have not found any 2009 President ones
