He's entitled to his opinion just like you Rickie - let it go at that.

Seems as though my post was interpeted the incorrect way. No problem here. bq can do what ever he wants..he just made it sound as though he was forced to buy..no one is, it is an individual choice.

    regards to all

First of all, you don't have to buy everything the Mint makes.

I'll just spend less on other stuff. I just got into coins a little over a year ago. I stick to mostly "junk" silver with some free/almost free ASEs (check out reader's digest, etc. for ads) and a couple of other random coins that non-collectors have never heard of i.e. trimes, half dimes (you mean a nickel?), etc. In December I bought the 2004 and 2005 silver proof sets from usmint.gov and I signed up for the silver proof and uncirculated subscription programs. It now looks like the presidential dollars won't be in there so I'll sign up for those, too. I also bought a 2003 silver proof set and 1987 (my birth year) prestige proof set (w/ Constitution dollar) and 1987 mint set.

Since I don't plan on buying a ton of mint products, I'll just cut back a little on junk silver and spend that money on my mint subscriptions and with the time I save (less time on eBay looking for silver) I'll go through rolls of change to fill my albums (I can't find a 1968 penny anywhere, it's the only penny I'm missing from 1940-1990. I also am missing about 7 cents from 1991-2006 (all Philadelphia) since I live in CA. I need to go back east and buy about 10 rolls of everything to get those P mint marks, they're pretty tough finds here.

That post was pretty long and most of it had nothing to do with the original topic but oh well, I don't post here often but in the incredibly unlikely event someone noticed me before and wanted to know more about me, there you go!

I'm only purchasing ASE's from the mint. I'm stuck on these coins and love the collection I have. I don't every plan to sell them, but will most likely give them to the family memeber who most cares for me in my old age (many years from now).

I feel the mint is trying to capitalize on new collectors with new products that will most likely never be worth what you orginally paid for them. I refer to clad coins and not precious metals (gold, silver, platinum).

Eventhough I've bought into the statehood program I've learned how to get what I need outside of the mints high price premiums.

When I need money it's OT time at work that allows me the pleasure of continuing to build onto the collection. That is after the bills get paid.

I will be buying fewer products.
