How to take good closeup pictures of coins?

    I've seen some pretty amazing closeup pictures of coins on here.

    How is it done?

    These were taken with a Pac-Sci stereomicroscope with optical zoom capability. Please note that I always use the "Full Image" option, because the "Thumbnail" option sucks.
