I've bought a couple coins on Ebay that were definately recolored , both were returned , I would only use Dellars on the most hideously cleaned copper , but then I probably wouldn't buy the coin in the first place .
The only thing Dellars is good for , is per AJs advice that everyone should buy a roll of copper cents and experiment , in the case of Dellers clean the coin then recolor it with dellars , then you will know what a dellers recolored coin will look like . In other words Dellars is only good for educating yourself .

I don't disagree with this. I should have put this disclaimer in. A high value coin never, unless you really know what your doing. A low value coin you could try. Dellars has a painted on look, that is unnatural. Most can easily spot. If diluted it could cover some damage. Don't do on a valueable coin. Just my thoughts
