I'm kinda shy (in person) among new people, and the tellers at the bank in which I usually make transactions (during lunch hour) is usually pretty busy . . . so I've found it hard to just chat someone up. I decided, though, I'd better just try to go almost every day and eventually warm up to the idea. Yesterday I asked if they knew when they were getting any 2009 rolls of cents, and they said that they heard they just weren't going to get any (:(). The teller asked the woman next to her, and the other teller said, "I don't even know what they look like." Ding, ding, ding . . . I knew how to exploit that opening! Today I went to make a minor deposit, but the real reason was to look for the teller that made that comment. I found her, waited, and then showed her my (only) 2009 cent . . . she was happy and excited to see it, and then had to show three other tellers (miraculously, at that moment, there were no customers!). She asked me where I got it, and then asked me if I ever get any more, to please get her one, and also one for the three other tellers. Ding. Another opening. So finally I was brave enough to ask her that if she ever saw anybody bring in rolls that were old or odd to please let me know. She said she sure would, and then gave me her business card. So . . . that's my first ever connection at the bank. Had to share. (I'm thinking it almost makes me want to get some overpriced 2009 rolls from the mint just so I can "seal the deal" and give them to the tellers!)
