No offense taken. We just see things differently on this. Cheers

Then why did a member say you knew everything already?

It's like what Doug said, @Insider, you're missing a little "history." Excuse me for a minute. "Would you like two hot apple pies with that order for only $1.00 extra? No? OK, if that completes your order, that will be $5.36, please pull up to the first window." Now, like I was saying, neither am I an "historian." Henceforth, suffice it to say... oh, I don't know... oh, Doug, somebody, help me out here... :D

Me also. IMO, the written word (books, chats, etc.) CAN BE USED to teach (spoon feed) shooting and dipping. What the heck is a correspondence course?

At the moment, a member and I are processing (conserving) his coin using PM's. o_O:eek::eek::eek::eek::facepalm::stop:

I have absolutely no idea what you and Doug are referring to about "history." I DO KNOW one member I often disagree with is very intelligent, has been on CT forever, and is very knowledgeable on many subjects he posts about. As a matter of fact, I have challenged him to send some of his "opinions" to either Coin World Commentary or Numismatic News Viewpoint in order to share his VAST KNOWLEDGE with a larger audience! If that is the "history" part; I think I understand. I don't even wish to post another different "between-the-lines" possibility you may be trying to convey. :eek:So I'm still clueless; but thanks for the post.

For the record, Insider, although I've been a member here for a long time, during the ten years I was active and moderating at CCF I essentially didn't post here at all. I've only been back to activity here since September, and if anyone knows me here, it's only from there or what I've posted in the last 6 months. I've no idea about the "history" reference either. :)

Well, I'm glad you are here. Much of your teaching is very useful. My wife and I prefer CCF for foreign info as she is interested in 8 Rls and some experts post over there. NGC's site is little used - a short time ago they only had 22 folks logged on. CU has a lot of well known posters as does CT.

The guys on CCF are wondering where you are and why you don't post there? I'll need to read more.

I'm looking for a place to post: Who was SuperDave over there on CCF.

The "history" that is being referred to is in regard to spock1k. In other words, if you had been a member here years ago to see/read all of the joking that went on in regard to spock - well, you never would have made this comment -

The posted response that made you think that, well that was posted tongue in cheek. But only those who knew the history, would be aware of that.

Just add another s and another d and you'll have me. I'm SuperDave all over; when BiggFredd passed a few years back, I doubled the S and D in my username in his memory. I still have the second-highest postcount over there among the "regular" members.

I see a lot of beautiful Indian Cents for sale. They,re not graded and look very nice. The only thing that makes me a skeptic is the bright, adobe-pink color. I would expect a red unc. coin of that vintage to be not so perfect looking and bright. I don,t see anything really wrong with proper restoration of coppers, but if it,s not done properly, the eye appeal suffers and so does the grade of the coin. I think it is wise to hire a professional to restore an expensive high grade coin if it must be done, but I still prefer a graded coin in nice red condition, rather than a hybrid piece.

I'll tell you, though, I learned more about coins from Doug I mean grandpa than anybody. Excuse me for a minute. "No, madam, we don't serve sushi, here, this is McDonald's." Geeze, the customers you get, these days!
