BooksB4Coins has been on his "anti detecto" tirade since Day 1. I have thick skin, but my patience has worn out.

I've reported him many times, but he still keeps coming back to my threads.

You need to realize that no one is trolling your threads. Many of us have tried to help educate you on what you post in your threads because we realize you are inexperienced in this hobby, and young, 20 something if I remember how old you said you were.

BooksB4Coins may be a bit brash, and borderline harsh, but he is trying to help you understand. If you can't see that, than I don't know what to tell you.

And if you seriously can't figure out why 7 negs, unwarranted IMO, were removed from the sellers feedback, than I REALLY don't know what to tell you.

This is part of your problem, and I offer this in the spirit in which it is intended.

You go off halfcocked with only a small percentage of reliable information at your disposal and don't even stop to think if what you're about to rant on is even accurate.

Name what rule you think BooksB4Coins has violated in posting to your threads. Has he called you names? No. Has personally attacked you? No. Has he made false allegations against you on any of your threads, or anywhere on an open forum here? No.

So why report him? What has he done, other than try and get you to understand things you rant about better, so that you can see that your rants are based on nothing but supposition, lacking any credibility.

Actually he has before, you no longer see it on threads because it was removed.

I'm beginning to think you're hopeless. But I will endeavor to get you to see the light.

Think about this for a minute:

This, is your opening post starting this thread:

Okay. You're coming off as an experienced authority on shill bidding on eBay, which we know that isn't correct. But you make allegations, and even go so far as to lay out the elaborate plan by the seller.

Now let's role play a second.

What if, you started your thread off with:

Now, which post do you think is better? The one you actually started this thread with, or the second one? Be honest.

IMO, you would have received a well rounded posts of other's opinions pro or con had you started this thread with the second one, ASKING for other's opinions.

I think his pride gets hurt at times, mostly in part that he thinks everyone here believes he provides wrong factual information. It's a case of "I know what I'm talking about, so don't judge my expertise" rants. That's why up to this point, he's taking all of our expertise/opinions with a grain of salt. Or these threads would have stopped long ago.

Sometimes I wonder if these threads for cries for help is exactly that. I'm still a little puzzled by the guy and his overall intent here sometimes. I think he's trying to do good, sometimes the way he communicates his message is taken the wrong way or seems condescending at times.

    rickmp Frequently flatulent.

This is not an attack, Tim, but have you ever given any thought at all to the idea that it might just be you, and not the rest of the world, that has a problem?

I agree with all that you say.

Many have tried, and it seems we have failed, to help in a more positive way, to understand not only this hobby, but auctions as a whole.

    7 negs?! YIKES!

Tim, I imagine you're a good guy at heart. You posted an apology thread and with it came a sense that threads and posts like this would end.

I'm telling you man, if you step back and lay low and just concentrate on reading and gaining knowledge, when you return to posting we will all notice a difference for the better. Not everyone will like you, some members of this forum still despise me for things I've done in the past. Heck, some have ran off and created forums of their own to avoid a hostile T$.

You can't please everyone but I assure you that you will be happier with yourself and this hobby if you just take some time off from posting so much.

If you find yourself compelled to respond, please do so in a constructive way.

Is that too much to ask?

That is very good advice. I remember the "other" T$ (and he was not a likeable fellow back then) and I see the T$ of today. Maybe there is hope for Detecto yet but he has not shown any improvement so far despite the valiant efforts of many here.

Really, I believe it to be a choice for people to either read or not read posts, and to choose to reply or not, based on the forum rules. Also it is not dictated by the mods and admins on here that people must stay away from your threads, and not read what you post. As far as I know, it's not up to the OP of a thread to dictate who can come and read their posts. It's the internet, sonny. You post, and it's there for all to see. And read. And make comments, if people wish (until a post gets locked). Sorry you don't like some of the comments, but why are you continuing to post the same-o same-o?

Why don't you be proactive and block him so he can post to his heart's content and you don't have to be exposed to his posts. Oh, maybe that's too proactive for you.

Are you trying to run everyone but ardent Detecto admirers (population - uncertain number) off the site, so you can say and do whatever you want?????? You might consider setting up your own site, so you can make your own rules. Go save the world from everyone and all, all on your own terms, on your own site, and you can have your cake and eat it too.

Gosh, I think you bring a lot of things on yourself. Yet you seem surprised that you get the same sort of remarks. Thread after thread after thread. Yet when you post a thread and no-one replies you start going bonkers.

Now go report me for being anti-Detecto. I double dare you.

    Detecto,

Since “day one” I’ve done nothing more than give you the same consideration/courtesy that you’ve given others, and I suppose it was foolish to think that maybe you would catch onto this. While I have nothing personally against you, it’s time to realize that while this may be fun and games for you, it’s not the same for everyone. Have you ever thought about the fact that maybe some of the businesses/sellers you openly bash are not evil people and may simply be trying to support their families? Have you ever tried to take the gentlemanly approach instead of flying off the handle when you feel wronged? You make such an issue out of fairness, yet post things that could hurt others while these people are not here to defend themselves. Is that fair? You clearly expect to be given a chance, yet rarely give the same consideration to anyone else. Just because things do not work out as you want, this does not mean anyone is out to get you or that any wrongdoing has taken place. For what it’s worth, I’ve long thought your heart in the right place, but raw emotion seems to take all.

Many here tried to show you a different side of this shill situation, yet without proof you still decided to publicly announce that you hit the seller with seven negative feedback. What purpose did you serve in doing this? Do you realize that ebay most likely removed the feedback because of its personal nature? If you truly believe you lost the other notes over a shill, why not simply return the ones you did win (on principle alone) and move on? In the end you accomplished nothing by trying to punish the seller. Now you are angry because I posted a link to on example of questionable ebay activity, which is the same thing you have done many, many times. Why is this okay for you to do over and over, but wrong for me to do once?

Rebuttals are always welcome. Why report something to the mods when your point would better be served in the court of public opinion?

So you start a negative, emotionally charged thread and then are bothered when its garners negative responses? This type of thread is not innocent and/or neutral, yet you start them anyways. May I ask what you expect? While I understand why you are upset over the link, it was posted with the hopes that maybe you would learn from it and/or maybe understand how it feels to be judged on little information by someone who does not know the whole story. Keep in-mind, I never said who the accounts belong to.

    Thank you, sir.

Well said BooksB4Coins. Hope he gets the big picture and we can all go back to our normal lives.

On a side note, since this thread is about "How to deal with a shill", is it too late to put together my own ebook about the subject and market it on HSN?

Interesting. IIRC, A kid buying something off their parent's account (one that, correct me if I am wrong or remember this incorrectly, the kid sells things from - as opposed to the parents selling the items). Bid put in just about an hour before the end of the auction. It makes me wonder if the action wasn't done just to 1) find someone to bid higher than the second bid, thus making it worthwhile to sell, or 2) stop the item from selling at the lowest bid, therefore making it available to resell.

Well, that's what it makes me wonder, anyhow.

Guess it might be fair for the seller though.

No. By all means do so. But you'll probably get served with a cease and desist letter threatening to tell the sender's lawyer about it if'n you don't comply. Something about stealing the idea for the book off some random internet post. Makes it someone else's property, not yours.
