Eduard, I think you misunderstand my point. First off, I was trying to dispute the original statement, that there is a ban on coll. these coins. What I am trying to convey is that militaria from the period is highly popular with collectors, and you see that in most shows/ auctions. The Tiger kept at Bovington is a big fan favorite. These 'collectors' are in NO way promoting the political policies of this era. And definately no collector of such material agrees with any political aspects. Take it further, I collect Roman coins, love them. But, I do not condone the barbaric acts of the Roman Republic/ Empire.....slavery/ circuses/ massacres/ cruelty. Now, I have never wanted a 1933-45 German coin, I find them drab, I like 1915 and older AV coins, plus the later issues from Danzig/ Saaregebeit. John
John, thank you for taking the time to explain: I was reading your comment at face value and within another context. You have explained that was neither the intention nor your meaning, I am happy with that.
I collect German coins, mostly silver ones, but also some non silver, such as pfennigs, with the nazi regalia, simply for the historical aspect of it. I'm a very big fan of both American history and world history. I won awards in elementary school for excellence in history. I do not own any nazi related anything beyond coins. Remember, it could happen again " Lest we Forget. "
I have collected world coins by Krause type for about 25 years. Most recently, attempting to get the key coin of a given type is challenging and rewarding for me. That may appeal to you for Third Reich coinage. But in the end, it is most important to collect coins in a way that keeps you interested.
