I am using known coin software application to catalog my coins. I have to create the entries for the modern Euro Coins because the program does not come with them in the database. The software has Country, Denomination and Variety for each coin. Is there a recommended/standard way to enter these? Option 1: Country = European Union Denomination = x Euro/cent Variety = Country Option 2: Country = Country Denomination = x Euro/cent Variety = European Union I like option 1.
Contrary to the euro bills, coins are issued by the member states, and Option 2 would take that into account. It would also reflect the continuity better, I think - that is, each euro area country issued coins before it introduced the euro. Strictly speaking, by the way, the term "European Union" is not right as some EU member states do not use the common currency. But for your software the label would be fine ... Christian
