How old for $100 bill significance?

Your logic regarding the value makes sense, but in actuality, the demand for this note is likely to be very low. Unless it has a special attribute (error, low/fancy serial number, or top end CU condition), finding a buyer who will offer well over face value could be a challenge.

When I was a young collector in the 70's, my grandmother would save series 1928/1934 (you could still find fives and tens then) and put them in my birthday cards. I saved them for years. In the 90's, I took all of the low grade notes and used them them to help pay for a 1909-SVDB. Wish I would have done that earlier when I could have bought one in better condition. BTW: My 1909-SVDB is worth a lot more now than the old low grade notes.

    Really close print counts.

    1963A $100 FRN's 37,632,000
    1969 $100 FRN's 40,448,000
    1969A $100 FRN's 38,144,000

The 1969C $100 FRN's are when the print count went to 63,360,000......so there you have it.

Well, it sounds like a mixed opinion on here as to keeping or spending it.

About 30 minutes after posting the question, I ended up depositing it at my wife's bank into her acct to handle an automatic payment the next day.

Oh, well. It wasn't in very good shape anyway.

Nothing wrong with saving it if you find it interesting. If you were going to save it in anticipation of future profit, IMO, I think you made the right decision. I have a few low grade radar serial number dollars put away that will never be worth more than a couple of bucks if I'm lucky. Tying up a few dollars in this isn't a big deal, but I wouldn't even think about saving Franklins unless they were CU and I could immediately flip them.
