I haven't had as much luck since the US economy crashed and the price of silver shot up, but I still pull silver. I usually ask my teller if anyone has turned in any half dollars lately (I have to explain its the 50 cent ones). Yesterday I bought $7 worth and pulled a '67 and '68. (%40 silver). My best was a time (early 2007)I found a bank near my work that got in a box of half dollars that must have been in the Fed vaults for decades. I ended up buying (to their annoyance) the remaining $235 of half dollars in rolls and loose. Every roll had at least $4 of silver coin in it. Oldest was a 1901 O Barber, most were mid 40's Walking Liberties, and the rest were Franklins. Another time I was able to buy two unopened rolls of 1964 Kennedy's for face. I think I do well with the half dollars b/c most younger people don't even know what they look like let alone that they were at one point made of silver. They are getting harder to find now though without having to order a full box ($500) at a clip.

I've been at it CRH off and on (more off lately) for 10 years.
