Are you trying to get them all with some Mint redness still showing? I recommend it highly.

As true as that diagnostic is, I don't see it as particularly useful for the untrained eye. It's subtle. Subtle can be bad.

Question, How about the rainbow colored ones? Ones that fade in to other colors?

Two things that have achieved the color of an aged bourbon are good - the bourbon, and Lincoln cents.

the 2 is shaped differently, and note that the upper part of the 8 is smaller on the small dates

Thank you all for your feed back, info, and humble-downs. After going through rolls after rolls of pennies I has been stacking up for years, I only found these much of small date 1982s. My goal is to have a complete set of the different varieties that came in that year. I appreciate all of your advice, feedbacks, and your time. Happy collecting everyone. (I hope my pictures are better on this run).

Please do let me know if there are any discrepancies on my findings. Salut!

If you find 3 of the 1982 D small date copper (3.1g), then your set will be worth a boatload of money...like a lot.

What makes them so special and where would I sell them? I recently found a few of them.

The entire world has found one and you have "a few". Let's think about that for a minute, huh?

The utterly amazing thing is NOT that more haven't been found, it's that ONE was found, once you understand the order of events.

It's not the small date copper. It's either large date copper (3.1 g) or small date zinc (2.5g)

    Just 1 Cent

Which of the top 3 coppers would you guys prefer to buy if you were to see the top 3 for sale? Or would you think a person in the market to buy all 8 varieties of 1982 instead of just the small date copper?

Sorry but I'm the wrong person to ask.. I only collect Mint Errors. I'm not at all interested in the 1982 Cent varieties. Never was and never will be.
    Good luck with your search.
