I got a 1979 half dollar in change and it must be worth a small fortune because I know for a fact that John Kennedy died in 1963 how could he possibly pose for a portrait in 1979 I'd post a photo but my camera doesn't take very good images how much is this coin worth? Chris
LOL. But @jwitten is right about new people and the hobby. Still, I think at least a few of these newbie posts -- maybe from previously banned members -- are designed to pull our collective legs.
Yeah, you're right! Without the dummies, who would SleazeBayers have to sell their junk to. While we're on that thought, maybe we should do away with licensing exams for doctors. Who cares if they heal anyone or not. There are all sorts of fields that don't need exams to determine someone's ability to perform critical tasks. Why should cops have to take arms qualification tests? Criminals don't! They don't care if they shoot the wrong person. Chris
Did you really just compare needing to take a test to join a coin forum with needing to take a test to become a Dr? Ummm, you are right, TOTALLY the same.
Didn't you notice that I said "while we're on that thought"......meaning exams! Besides, do you really think we need to attract people to the hobby who think that road rash is a valuable error because they have never seen anything like it? Is this the sort of progressive thinker the hobby needs? Why do we have so many people collecting errors when they don't even know what they are? Why don't they buy a book so they can at least learn what they are? Nope! They only want to know what they can sell it for, so why should they spend their money on some damn book. Chris
We need the big guns here and you know who you are . This way they can all get it wrong ... Lol .........
why must you yell at me ive got thin skin and am offended easily why do I need punctuation before i posted that remark i double checked to make sure that i could repeat it in its entirety without having to take another breath isn't that the criteria for good punctuation? Chris
Think about it Chris. Look at the Lincoln cents in your pocket. We all know Abraham Lincoln died in 1865, so how could he have posed for those?? Using your deductions, every one of those must be worth a small fortune then, right? Same thing with Jefferson on the nickels and he died in 1826.
Got several people going--didn't he? Q) What's the difference between genius and stupidity? A) Genius has limits!
Doesn't interest in the hobby directly affect the value of the coins which we collect, meaning if there's no interest in coin collecting, the values would drop. That being said, what do you think is the ratio of newbies actually becoming real coin collectors? 1 out of 10 or 20 ? The future of coin collecting is the newbies. I wonder if the same thing could have been said 50 years ago, and again, 50 years from now?
