furham, you seem like a nice person, and it is not my desire to be contentious. And it was not my intent to tell anyone what their coin is worth, sight unseen. You're right about that, too. What I was trying to do was set a reasonable range of expectations. But I'll tell you what. Go out and get $65 for a raw coin of either of the dates mentioned in the original post. Choose one that you think it grades MS-64 if you want. Prove that you've gotten $65, and I'll eat my words and your hat! Either of those dates, even in a high MS grade will not get much more than melt from a dealer, and given the softness of the Morgan market even on EBay now, one would be unlikely to get much more than melt there. The "real market" is running lower than any of the price guides, at the moment. It's much lower than a "retail" guide like CoinValues (Trends), and it's even somewhat lower, at the moment, than a wholesale guide like the Grey Sheet. It's way lower than guides like PCGS or Numismedia. I don't know where you got that $65 figure from, and honestly, I don't much care. My observations come from having an inventory well in excess of 200 Morgan dollars, going to coin shows and talking to lots and lots of dealers who specialize in Morgans, including VAMs, and following EBay closely.
