hehe....I started holding onto Bicentennial quarters when I was like...8ish? But that wasn't serious collecting at all.

So, I've really only been at this seriously for a grand total of 6 months and 15 days! I've learned more here than I ever thought I would...

Thats kinda how I got started, saving Bicentennial Quarters out of circulation. At one point I had about 150 of them before I cashed them in. Now I have about 20.

Since about 1959. My uncle, Doc, would, every Sunday, bring pockets and pockets loaded with change. Sometimes 40-50 dollars worth. My brother and I would divide it up and I'd fill my Whitman albums up. Then I sort of stopped around 16 years old and started up again 7 years ago.

Just started last Summer, about 6 months give or take.
Of course the majority of my interest is in Non US coins just to be different.
I feel that most shops in America I.E. antique, pawn, coin what ever they call them selves could care less for anything other than U.S. and Bullion. my Avatar coin is a Italian 1909 1 Lira that I bought from such a shop for $12. Even the fact that just rifling through another shops 10 cent bin I bought a Switzerland 2 Franc, Several silver peso's. Where there is a lack of knowledge there is profits to be gained ;)

Two words that really don't apply to me is "jealous" and "envy" except in one and only one area. I am envious of the people here in their 20's or earlier that have exposure to this hobby, and are involved as collectors building a collection while continually learning more about the hobby. While I may possess envy of these people I am also impressed with the knowledge they have obtained already. I know little to nothing about what your collection consists of or looks like, but that is okay. All I care about for all of you is that you are happy with it and the hobby keeps you involved. My envy is offset by the fact my two sons (age 11 and 9) are starting to become very interested and working on Memorial Cents and Jefferson Nickels from rolls. I hope someday all of you will mentor and share the vast knowledge you will have by then with my sons as others have done with you.
