How many SEA collectors do you think are out there?

Looking at the normal proof Eagle sales from last year for example with sales at 850,000 I think it is unlikly there is anywhere near that many people that collect them. How many of those sales do you think are from collectors buying duplicate's for a future "investment", flippers and people buying them for kids that don't really want them? What if the amount of coins outnumber the people that collect them or even are going to collect them within the foreseeable future? My bet would be that the number of collectors is less then 300,000

You might be right, I have been putting aside one of each year for each of my 18 children, J/K I only have three children. I am guessing that there might be about half a million collectors, of them maybe 10k serious collectors.

i believe the majority of those sales are either flippers or stackers. most serious bullion investers buy silver by the roll or more.

check the mintage of the years that get a premium. that will tell you about how many collectors there are minus maybe 10-15% for floating dealer stock. there is a premium because there are more buyers that loose coins. that doesn't really apply for some newer issues because of hype and flipping but works for coins more than 3-4 yrs old.
