As beautiful and classic as they are, the &quot;Indian Princess&quot; designs of the 1850s represents cultural appropriations upon a Liberty in times when Native Americans and their culture were being systematically wiped out. And dear Teddy, a renown Indian hater, wanted the Eagle to be more nationalistic (need to research the history of this design more). Don&#039;t mistake, I love the coins and collect them but for my indigenous set they don&#039;t make the grade. And what about Hawaii? Are they not indigenous to what is now the United States? The Hawaiian Commemorative 50C will eat up any savings by not including a few gold pieces. Later this summer, once I get through some family visits and find the time I&#039;ll start a new thread with my full list and to talk more about this. Anyone else interested? Let me know here.
