Thank you for adding one more reason for good photos. I was responding to people that had mentioned they were collectors and did not see a reason for extreme macro photos --- This treads subject . If you are going to quote me please use my message in its entirety ...
Why should I quote your entire post when I was responding ONLY to the first sentence? The rest of your comments had nothing to do with my response. We have enough trouble with people misinterpreting what others say, so I think it is best to keep it simple. Chris
I developed the photographic techniques I use today specifically for taking high magnification, high resolution images of the varieties I found in BU roll searches. I have taken pics of a few coins from others but the vast majority of my images are of my own coins.
I was busy earlier today and did not have an opportunity to fully explain my thoughts on Extreme Macro Photos .. If you are do this for insurance purposes I would suggest having the coins attributed by one of the professional grading services like PCGS, NGC, ANACS or SEGS and having a photo of the attributed coin in their slab. Not necessarily the Macro Photo with your thoughts of it attribution. Otherwise these coins will only be allowed the common cost allowed for that coin at the grade identified by that professional grading company. Having photos of all insured property is almost a requirement for any collectable item and then if the insurer will allow this type of loss. Good to check with your Insurance Companies some will not allow payments for collectables and some only with viable proof. I do not think self Attributed Coins will carry any premiums even if you have those type of photos.
