How long would you wait on overdue orders?

I normally wouldn't ask this question but its a tough call for me on this one. I received a few coins I luckily paid through either auction or Paypal back in October that still have not showed yet. All are from overseas; I had offers to cancel or trade out other coins. I am about as honest as they come so I keep saying since they have shipped, I will wait. But how long is just too long in your book?

Three months is a bit too long for my liking. I'd request a refund, and since you're as honest as you say, if the coins finally show up, just pay for them again.

One I ordered from Germany took at least 3 months to come. The vendor refunded my money and then a week later I got it. I had to paypal him the money.

I just received a coin I ordered from Indian this week. I ordered it back in April. COVID has certainly messed some things up.

    Do you have tracking?

If it were my order at this point I'd just cancel and get a refund....

. Yes I have tracking on all of them. They all say they were scanned in the orignal country of origin. Then nothing further then "In transit"

Yeah that's a little long even in the current state of things....but stranger things have happened. I order an item from Amazon in March and after 60+ days of no movement other then 'item in transit' they offered a refund and I took it...then it arrived in Sept. and looked like it had been on a world tour!

It depends for me. After a month within the US I start to get nervous, as this usually is not the case. Overseas, however, I always give at least two months before I really think about it.

However, its also a function of value. I am not nearly as worried about a $12 coin as a $1200 one.

Back in March when we were going into lockdown I purchased some 1:87 wooden house kits from a seller in Rostov Russia. He posted them right away by registered mail and then I waited and waited and waited and didn't get them until early August. By then he had refunded my money. So I sent it back. Lots of posted items are taking forever or seemingly so. 55485906_2151551221604465_4402763042325004288_o.jpg

I went back to settle up with the vendor on my order but they were 'unavailable'.

I am guessing if they are taking more than 3 months then they are lost in the mail.

About 7 or 8 years ago, I ordered some ammo. It showed in stock at the time. Then a day or two later, I got an email from the vendor saying it was out of stock and asked if I wanted to put it on backorder. I did. More than a year later, I got an email stating my order was going to ship in a few weeks. I cancelled. I had actually forgotten about the order and I wasn't charged. But, then, it was all about supply and demand.

In today's day and age, it isn't about supply and demand, it is about who was shut down and who is trying to count pennies in a "pandemic."

I bought a couple of knives from overseas when it was a pandemic, and shipping wasn't delayed. It still took a few weeks, but they arrived without issue. Seller was in contact the whole time.

I wouldn't wait 3 months for a shipment these days especially from someone I don't know or have a relationship. Already paid for orders that take that long, I would request a refund and look somewhere else. But, it comes down to how bad you want those coins. It does sound like you are not gonna get what you paid for.

I only ever had one shipment go MIA. It was back in 1998/ CNG/ Triton one auction. I won two Roman gold Aurei/ both FDC. CNG sent them/ insured reg. letter. They never arrived/ CNG refunded the 12K/ 6 weeks later. They said it disappeared once it crossed the border/ hit customs. But then what else can you expect when you declare the real value/ it only invites theft.:( Presently thiings are taking way longer with the pandemic.

    Lots of variables,

    where was it shipped from
    what method
    where is it going
whats the tracking been saying etc

For international in the last 12 months yes very easily. I sent something to Australia last year that took about 4 months when it should have been 4 days with the shipping method. There's not enough flights for the increased mail volume and things are sitting all over the place at no fault of the sender

What I don't get is why do some orders go from one location ship to another and Back again ? This here in the States . I understand why there sitting though .

That's always happened, sometimes they just scan something and throw it on a truck to say they moved it other times its a mistake etc. There's always been a lot of flaws in the system that people are really noticing this year but they generally do a good job all things considered
