Pretty much since I was a small child. My parents had a big box of wheat pennies (my dad still has it and is giving it to me) and other old coins and back in the '70s wheats were easier to find and when I found one, I'd stick it back. I also had good luck finding pre-1960 nickels when I was younger. I'm in my late 30s.
Since 1999. My grandmother would collect state quarters from the Philadelphia and Denver mints and send them to me. I became interested in other coins in 2005. My great uncle brought a coin to a family gathering, showed it to me, and told me all about it. I found it interesting and asked him if he had any other coins. He had a huge collection and invited me over to his home to see it. He had just about every kind of coin and knew all about each and every one of them. To get me started on my own collection he gave me a huge bag of wheat pennies. I've collected on and off ever since.
I started collecting commemoratives at age 15 or so. My mom always bought proof sets for me for my birthday. Helped that her fling on the side was a coin dealer. I have always been interested in it but never had the money to start any big collection. I am now 30 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I started when I was 14 or so... I was active in the hobby for about 6 years and then I tucked my collection away. I then got much more serious about it 2 years ago. I'm 41 now.
Same here , seems like girls really pick up in importance then , now if I could find one that collects coins , being rich wouldn't hurt either .
