Yea, sitting in the right field bleachers at old Forbes Field on a Sunday afternoon with a packed lunch watching Roberto was the greatest.

Hello Scott. Glad you found your old collection. Seems your story is similar to many of ours lol.
I just got back into coin collecting again after many years and it all started with me finding some coins my mother and I had collected from years past.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane and good luck with your collection!

It's a small world. I was born and raised not far from you in Baltimore county, Rosedale MD.:) I remember my first Orioles game at Memorial Stadium. It was around 1977.

It was great as a kid! Brooks would call me by my first name, hug me and take me into the dugout and office. I got tons of stuff, even a baseball bat.
Great memories from the best team in all sports.

I did the opposite. I collected scrap newspapers and non ferrous metal for recycling. I used the proceeds to purchase Morgan’s and the occasional American gold.

That reminded me that I also found glass bottles and turned them in at the store for cash. Back then the bottles had a $.05 deposit.

I should add that a nickel doesn’t sound like much but for a quarter I could get a large candy bar, a comic book and a fountain drink and still get change back.

I also slung newspapers to buy a bicycle, toboggan, etc. Unlike you guys, we were not poor (and not rich either) but my dad did not spoil us. He encouraged his children to work, whether on paper routes, mowing lawns, or shoveling driveways, so we would learn the connection between hard work and it’s rewards.
