I think the 2005 set's value will always remain above the original mint price because of it's first year issue status. I do not think it will ever bring very large prices because of the large mintage.
2005 mint set a million pieces is not considered a lot. look at peace medal nickel. over 300,000,000 made. $2.00 face value a roll. selling at $24.00. a 1,100% increased. look at tennessee quarter. over 300,000,000 made. $.25 face value. selling at $1.75. a 600% increased. and many other more. to make it short. it is demand and supply that count. there were 300,000,000 american. we need 300,000,000 piece of each to accommodate them.
But few are collectors...only 30,000 are members of the ANA and that shows a round number of how many collectors are out there... Speedy
300 m americans a.n.a. members are mostly dealers or very rich collectors. they have to pay high membership fee. see how u.s. mint sold each year. how many?. see how american were very rich to buy it & afford it. while other countries with both couple worked are still not enough to survive. one day work for one fried chicken only. one american collector can easily have 100,000 pc of coins. how many millions of westward journey nickels were bought by collectors?. speedy, you are very conservative. too conservative. one piece of st gaudens $20.00 gold for over $1 million can be bought by one collector.
Wrong..... Wrong...I'm a member and I'm not rich and it doesn't cost much...$20 for a year... Many many of the sets that were sold were sold to dealers....and dealers don't buy just 1...they buy many many sets...also some collectors buy more than just 2-3 sets. So really you don't have millions of people with this set...you have maybe a few thousand. Collectors and non collectors bought these....but I would say many were dealers and collectors for resell. Thank you...collectors should be conservative....we need to watch on what and how we buy....we should stay with many of the "old school" ways....grading shouldn't be 3-4 ways...it should be 1 way. Now Investers and (I would say this fits you) people that watch, and guess, the price of sets and silver....they can't be conservative...because since they guess they have to buy some of each item just in case they are right...but most of the time they are just what they are called...guess's....and nothing more. high price will stay for few more years. while some people were projecting gold and silver to move higher and higher and stay long for few more years. yes. i believe it. gold, some projected even to reach $900.00. gold and silver have been down for over twenty years. see how prices of other things moved up?. this time around at these prices for gold and silver. most people are not willing to sell them. not only that. modern coins and antiuqe coins will be up also. i see 2004 mint set and 2005 mint set to continue climbing up. some dealers were selling 2004 mint set at $109.95.
True...but look at why Silver went up last time...it was because of the Hunt Brothers....and when it went up people sold...they melted...and got rid of silver...the same thing will happen again...and what happened back then?..the market went "good bye". I can see gold going up more than I can see silver going up and staying up.... Like what??...most things are hyped....look at the L&C pouch and coin set...that is one of few things I could bring up...they went down...and sooo many people thought they would go to the moon. The key word there is "were"....they aren't now if they were selling at that price. Sometimes dealers go along with HYPE for a time just to see how many suckers are out there---now I will say that sometimes there is a true coin or set that will go up...but nobody knows what one and when. I can think of many coins/tokens that have a mintage under 1million that aren't rare....look at CW tokens....if you think 1million is rare...look at them...look at 1931-s cents....at proof Franklins...they are way under that. to speedy i like the way you answering back. very organized and thank you. but that doesn't mean i agree with you. anyway. keep up your good work.
2005 mint set by the way, i just get answer from the u.s. mint. they ship my order today. 10 set of 2005 mint set. so i expect next thrusday to arrive. i ordered it on november 11. only two set belong to me and the rest were for my other four relatives. two set each. my other relative order another 10 set on november 18. hopefully they can get it too. none of those belong to me.
2005 prices the current prices of 2005 u.s. mint products. prices from mount vernon coins. 2004 mint set $109.50 - cost - $14.95 2005 mint set $47.95 - cost - $16.95 2005 proof set $44.50 - cost - $ 22.95 2005 silver proof set $46.50 - cost - $37.95
Anybody know the current BID on the 2005 unc. sets? Last week it was $27. Wondering if it has changed since then. Thanks.
2005 mint set try to sell it at the e-bay. it will be higher than $27.00. if not, you already got 60% profit with a cost of $16.95.
wow, I just got my proof sets today that i ordered from the mint on 12/11. It would appear that they're selling pf mint sets, pf silvers, and pf state quarters sets.
mint set the 2005 mint satin finish set is a wonderful set. next time, i don't have to buy proof set or silver proof set. because mint satin set is proof to be equal good with those other sets. and it is very much cheaper too. it contained two sets. namely p and d. i will start collecting mint set from 2005. only if 2006 and above remains satin finish.
2005 set now another u.s. mint product (2005 5 pc statehood clad quarter) is sold out. while the 2005 5 pc statehood silver quarter is also considered selling well. because the maximum mintage is limited to 600,000. as of last report, 592,025 were sold.
2005 mint set the 2005 mint set delivered to its customers with a cardboard box sealed. if we don't remove it. if you sell it in the future. will it be a small premium on it?.
2006 mint set will 2006 mint set be a good investment?. 2006 set have a new jefferson nickel design on it. but 2007 till 2018 mint set might include president goldern dollar. and also the 2009 set till 2013 will have its penny design change too. what a nice future for coin collectors. be sure you have money to collect those. wow, until those years come. i am really old or gone. i wonder old dan have something to say.
No. As long as you have the coa, the coins in unbroken original plastic holder, and the other (colored?) box, it will sell fine.
That is how all of the Mint sets have been sent for the last few years......I don't think there is any real added value in a sealed set...some might be willing to pay a bid more but the boxes can be resealed so I would think some would just open the box and then close it and sell it as un-opened.
