If you keep your coin shelf vertical, aren't you concerned that they may fall out? And if they do fall out, you could damage the coin. When I buy a coin or coins, I take a picture of it/them, and store them in boxes about the size of the boxes that the Mint delivers my purchases in. I have all of my coins in a magazine box. I separate the coins by the year they were purchased and I keep an Excel spreadsheet of all my purchases. I purchase most of my coins from the Mint (Oh, no, you don't really buy from the mint?) Yes, I do. I buy a few from ebay and Mount Vernon. I have been fortunate in finding what I like. I did inherit a sizeable amount of old coins from my father. Sad to say, most of them were in a jar, each jar for each denomination. I put them in a 2x2 and file them in a coin box. I also have a separate magazine box for each denomination. As for purchasing from the mint, I have found many coins they sale are pretty nice. I like the American Liberty Gold Coin last year with the bucking horse. I'm sure that everyone has their own style of filing their coins. Thank you for those that showed or told us your way of keeping your coins.
