I was told that jewel luster (its a brandname) works for coins and removes the tarnish without damaging the coin..

The coin doesn't look that good...but I think there must be more that meets the eye than just that flip....

Forgive and forget....we don't need flaming over here and that will bring it on....

Hogwash and poppy cock....don't believe it and I would wonder about that person

The person who said this jewel luster does this was the same person who gave me the coin, my uncle.

Have you heard of it? it comes in a green bottle

Well...I would wonder about your uncle....one thing might be is that he learned about the coins back when cleaning was thought to be alright...an older guy gave me a few coins today and told me to clean the one with Toothpaste....I DON'T THINK SO.....

Jewel luster is an acid solution - yes it will clean just about anything off a coin. It will also damage the coin and actually remove metal from the surface.

Just like with many commercial coin cleaners - there are people that swear by them. But that doesn't mean it's a good thing - it just means that those people don't know what is in the stuff and what it does to the coins.
