Not as many as I used to. We suffered a business failure and I had to liquidate my half cent collection, all gold and most silver to preclude a total financial meltdown. The good news is that I did very well buying the coins and sold them for a handsome profit when I needed it. Coin collecting is an excellent hedge against disaster as long as you don't buy carelessly. But boy, do I wish I had my 1793 half cent, the 1808/7, the 1811, that lovely 1800 back...the Saints, the 1901/0 half eagle, on and on it went. It will take years to recover (if ever). But tonight my family is safe, warm and healthy, and I think I know where to get a good deal on a....
My collection isn't very large. I prefer one good coin to a stack of mediocre ones, mainly because I've always enjoyed the beauty of 'em. I'm big on eye appeal, so I tend to go for better grade common dates.
