Here is a more recent depiction of Liberty on the US Mint 2019 American Liberty 2.5 Oz High Relief Silver Medal.
I'm sorry but that just looks like the back half of her head has been removed. I suppose it is supposed to be some kind of head piece, but it ain't clear what it is. And the eagle is grasping nothing but air...wtf? Took 4 people to design this pos?
Yes it is very recent and that’s the reason I don’t care for this Liberty is she looks frail and weak. I like the strong defiant looking Lady Liberty. You should be able to guess why. And the majestic eagle is not on this coin. This eagle is about to land, in mid air. Edited to correct spelling
Have to agree. It's really strange looking, like so much recent coinage. I think they might have been trying to update the St.Gaudens Liberty with the Indian headdress as in the OP. ETA: This one is more successful in my view. Still somewhat diffident about the overall design, but at least Ms Liberty is more babelicious.
Frank Gasparro designed this medal for the 1969 ANA Convention - the design on the obverse was proposed for the small sized dollar that ended up getting Susan B. Anthony foist upon it in 1979.
1803 Draped Bust... Must I say more. I found her while Metal Detecting. She's a little dirty right now but I like it this way.
