Looks like a break with retained cud, I think. Or do you think it is a chip? 20191121_142012.jpg

Just a small die chip. A CUD must be part of the rim. Looks funny though.

What do you call it when there is extra metal along a break? LMC DB.jpg

What you are seeing is the progression of a die crack that started in the same area. So these are die chips. The worse the crack on the die expands, the more metal that escapes through the crack.

Very interesting and reminds me of a photo I saw recently of a dog born with a tail on it's forehead.

I just finished reading some good info on cuds-on-coins. Finally found that site! Thank you for your help!

I didn't see the die chip just above the eye. All of that would be a die crack. Reread what @tommyc03 said in his first post. He is correct. Very nice start of a good die crack. Tuck away and save. Not worth much but nice to have. :)

These are two different coins. The second showed more of a crack with the chips.

    Same date? Same mintmark?

No. Second is 1994 P. It just illustrated my question better.

Then I would say the first coin is a die chip but the second coin is a die crack. Neither one is worth a lot but both are nice worthy of keeping. It's nicer that you found them. :)
