Not being a billionaire or a large corporation such as GE I can't afford to hire tax experts or bribe congressmen to exempt me so I have to pay up but I surely do not do so willingly. Taxes are for little people, remember.

Whatever do you mean, a dishonest coin dealer? All dealers are honest, I have never heard of such a thing as a dishonest coin dealer. One day though, we will find one, of this I'm sure.

Surely you jest. Whoever controls the media controls the elections. Unfortunately the sheeple are not smart enough to see through the facade.

A very small group of people decide who is going to be elected. Those who own the media and control the money (goes hand in hand).

It couldn't be any more obvious with the upcoming election with two candidates who are carbon copies of each other. They have the same views on all the major issues.

Also the part where you bring up the 3 branches of government is pretty darn funny considering Obama started a war without congressional approval. Also approved NDAA which runs rampant over the now (apparently) obsolete constitution (not my opinion, I believe the constitution should be upheld, unfortunately the powers that be do not agree and its their opinion that counts).

Also Obama ordered the killing of an American citizen without a trial, this is murder but he has not been brought to justice? Shows you that the system is no longer balanced.

I hope this doesn't violate forum rules, but since we're talking in general and not mentioning names or parties, and hopefully it will remain civil, I think it's OK.

That is indeed the way it is supposed to work. However, elections are only one piece of the puzzle and it seems the vast majority of politicians will say whatever it takes to get elected. Once elected, that's when the people who can afford to buy a politician get their ear. When I write to my congressmen, I typically get a generic response that was likely written by a staff member and might have been signed by the congressman before being mailed. I cannot afford, or I choose not to attend these $10,000 a plate dinners hosted by politicians. The people who do are the ones that get to speak to and influence our congressmen.

Sure, we're all citizens and we all have one vote. But think back to when the Healthcare Reform Act was being debated. There were a great number of concerned citizens that wanted to attend the various meetings. While the average citizen was denied access, industry leaders from healthcare and insurance were not only invited, their input was solicited, and concessions were made to satisfy them and gain their endorsement. For example, the insurance industry would only give its endorsement if the individual insurance mandate was part of the bill. To appease the insurance industry and gain their endorsement, they agreed to include it. Tell me any one of us has that sort of influence on congress.

This country is supposed to be a Constitutional Republic and our leaders are sworn to uphold said constitution. I'm sad to report that most of them view the constitution as a nuisance. They routinely pass legislation they are fully aware violates the constitution knowing that it'll stand until someone challenges it in court. Our Supreme Court is a joke. Why else would they find a way to vote along party lines in virtually every politically charged case?

What it all boils down to is simple: Washintgon DC is the rear end of the USA and this country needs an enema!

P.S. - Foreign born are allowed to vote, so long as they have become US citizens.
