Got this for 8 bucks from a yard sale. Sadly its holed. Is it only worth melt?

yes, too bad, too. it seems to be a 79s reverse of 78, looking at the arrow feathers.
edit. it may be fake, the 9 in the date and the arrow feathers seem a bit off.

 

Seems to have a slight MAD obverse. If genuine is only worth melt value. Shame

 

Look at the corrosion inside of the hole. Silver doesn't corrode like that. And the 9 in the date is screwy. Fake IMHO

This is a pretty convincing fake, it would make a nice keychain though.

 

I'd put it on the dogs collar and call it a day.

 

Look at the date. It is very easy to tell it’s a fake.

 

Agreed. That was the first thing my eye went to. Easy fake.
