It gets more complicated. How big is the hole? How neat is the hole? Where is the hole located? Did it wipe out any of the important characteristics of the coin such as a date or mintmark? The most I've seen paid for a very nicely holed coin, if there is such a thing, is about half of what the coin would go for if not holed [but perhaps I haven't seen enough for this to be a valid sample]. The lowest price would be melt value [minus the hole].
You should have written it down on the flip. When I attribute something, I always write it down on the flip so I don't have to do it again later when I've forgotten what it is. I even do that on Ebay, when I attribute something, so I don't forget what it is so when it's closing, I'll know what to bid, if'n I bid. It sometimes takes me a couple of hours to attribute one Connecticut so I only want to do it once. :goofer: Ribbit
I would only buy a holed coin if it's impossible to acquire otherwise. As far as I know, no Austrian pieces of 1669 are "ultra-rare" and I would avoid both of these...
Apparently I made a faux paus. I had offered a holed coin for sale if anyone was interested in it. I guess you can't do this on this forum. Sorry for any error on my part. Olmanjon
There's a Forum in the Members Only Area where you can post stuff for sale. With that there, it isn't allowed in the rest of the Forums. :thumb: Same with Politics & Religion, there's a Forum for that so it isn't allowed in the other Forums, with minor exceptions (very very very very minor). Ribbit
