I've been watching and bid on a 1877-S Trade Dollar that ends Tonight. Sorry I don't know how to put a link to it. Nice coin without the nasty hole, but bids are up to $102. as I'm posting this. I'm surprised at the amount it's going for considering the damage.

Took a bit of work to fix that link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1877-S-TRA...TI-STILL-NICE-RARE-COIN-27-1-GRM/233909944380
That 1877-S Trade Dollar with the big hole in it sold for $104.50. Living proof that a badly damaged rare coin will sell for decent money. Far more than I expected.
You can buy a normal heavily circulated example for around $100-$150/ that's to much i wouldn't pay over $40 for it.
No matter how badly damaged a coin is, there's someone out there who can love it. Sometimes, it's someone who has money. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1878-p-trade-dollar-yeah-right.227707/
If anyone has a holed trade dollar for under $60 I would buy it. Can't find one on eBay for under $80.
