The IRB set up a military council to organise this rising, these were the seven signatories of the proclamation, (they were Thomas Clarke, Sean Mc Dermott, Padraig Pearse, Joseph Plunkett, Eamon Ceannt, James Connolly and Thomas MacDonagh). In January 1916 the council decided to have the rising at easter (thus the name the easter rising). The Military council sent Roger Casement to Germany to get arms, he used the ship called the Aud. The council then tricked Eoin MacNeill to make him join with his Irish volunteers (military group) by showing him "The castle document" (forgery) which stated that the British army was going to disarm the Irish volunteer. So far all was going well for the rising until, the Friday before Easter the Aud was sunk by the British and Casement captured, this meant the rebel would be lacking arms, thing got even worse when Eoin MacNeill found the castle document was a forgery so he pulled his Irish volunteers out of the rising by cancelling all manouvers nationally. After the rising was over a total of 90 people were executed (15 in Kilmainham jail, this includes the seven signatories of the proclaimation). The reaction of the people at first was anger at the rebels for the damage caused, but soon after people took their side after the executions, and recognised their aims.
