This is a "dark side" coin, but one of my favorite designs. This coin was minted in 1946 in Luxembourg to commemorate the 600th Anniversary of the death of John of Bohemia (also known as John the Blind). It was minted in 100,000 pieces. The NGC population is 5/0 and the PCGS population is 1/0 in MS67. The toning on this one was the "wow factor" that sold me, it just also happened to be a top pop!
Thanks Tom. It was my birthday present to myself back in June. The blue shield on the reverse is a stunner in hand, and the ring of rainbow tones on the obverse around the portrait is also delightful in hand! Glad you like it...makes me very happy to hear from someone with your incredible eye for coins.
I'm with you on there! I don't have a single slabbed coin and don't plan on getting any slabbed. Just my preference because I like to hold my coins. Although I just have bullion and junk silver so I have no problem holding them. If I had some real rare coins that iI didn't want to tarnish I would put them in plastic holders, but still wouldn't get them slabbed.
