I have created a couple of high resolution images of Lincoln Cents, using the "Stack and Stitch" method. I am hosting them on the EasyZoom site, which allows large image hosting and a nice zoom function. Take a look here, and don't forget to zoom in!! https://easyzoom.com/image/123994 https://easyzoom.com/image/124030
Wow! You can really zoom in and not have the shot pixilate on you. Stack and stitch.......is that like photo stacking?
Yes, it includes stacking. I shoot a matrix of shots that get stitched together in a panorama. Each of those panorama images is composed of several shots stacked together. So it takes a lot of shots (from 90 to 120) shots to make one of these.
That resolution is simply not high enough. We need more detailed shots, rmp. If I can't see the molecular structure, I'm not satisfied.
Yeah, it's not difficult to take it too far. But my goal for several years has been to have a single coin picture with enough resolution to identify all the variety markers for RPMs and Doubled Dies. To achieve this, the zoom needs to go from full-coin down to a reasonable view of the mintmark and similar feature sizes, and everywhere in between, across the whole coin. I have been trying to achieve this with single stacks, rather than a stitched panorama, and have been making progress toward that goal, but I decided to take a sharp left turn toward the darkside of stitching. Just as stacking allows us to do the otherwise impossible with focus, stitching allows us to do the otherwise impossible with resolution.
I have counted the electrons in each molecule of copper and have determined that this coin is a counterfeit. Nice images anyway.
