To be it is not different from buying a gold bar because it has an unusual serial number. How many people do that?

A dollar bill has a sequential number on it so that each is unique. Same with a gold bar (as long as it is large enough). What is it that makes no sense?

You, obviously are not a currency collector. Therefore you don't understand how currency is collected. To get one bill with 6 digits the same is unique, to get two bills with the exact same 8 digits, with six the same and the last two matching is very unusual.

By the way, gold bars are bullion, not collectable. The bills i posted are very collectable to a currency collector. I just posted that same post on the currenccy forum and the replies are still coming in.

You are correct. But then this is not posted in the Paper Money subforum either.

Here's the title of this tread: "Hi, I have come across a $50.00 bill that has the serial number: 16151810,it's from the 2013 date." It obviously was a question about currency, yet you, who has admitted that you are not a currency collector, took it upon yourself to comment on something you know nothing about. I guess you just like to make posts that you should have passed on.

Wrong! I do collect paper currency. But I collect errors and Fancy Serial numbers. The OP's serial number is not a Fancy Serial number.. neither is yours.

Why? Because I enjoy collecting unusual serial numbers, As with coins, you collect with what makes you happy.

Second quote, I was talking to sakata, not you. He said he did not collect currency.

Here's a fancy serial number for you, both a repeater (12341234) and a radar note (12344321):

    I get it!

The year 1111 was the year that the sheep got the droppsie and the year 1138 was the year the sun went dark for a couple of hours!

    Nice notes!

I am new at this, I am now collecting both coins and notes. Notes for me can be numbers in succession or combination. I will choose what I want them to mean for me. I am certain we all should, however, it is great that this hobby is taking on some exciting chats. Keep posting,I am learning.

I don't know if you know about this website I want to share with you -

It shows what fancy serial numbers should be. They carry nice premiums.

Then there are interesting serial numbers. Not as important as the fancy serial numbers and definitely no huge premiums. But if you like them.. Good for you!

    IMHO
