Hi Tmoneyeagles, No it has not been cleaned or dipped while in my possession but unknown if or not at some point in time. It really didn't look cleaned to me. As for lighting as I explained above in this post I took the photos in "White Light" with no flash.
    Kind regards, Mark

Okay didn't see the set of pics you took...

In the ebay picture, it looks dipped...
In your picture it looks more original...

Very nice coin, but that ebay picture would throw me off, and make me mad...
It doesn't really look like the same coin...

It looks like a EF in the ebay photo, and then in your photo, looks more of a VF20 maybe VF30....

The coin is in my house yet. I make photo with ..

special box , that made from carton box, that the sides the

box changed from cartoon to white paper, ( paper of

printers), I learn to photo with box from a photographer

that come to my home to teach me how to make a real and

exact photo. The box was with 3 lamps around the box and

you got inside the box unit white light and I photo without

flash , (the color of the coin was black to the eye), and the

and I think I made the exactly photo without flash.

The green spot it was not toning it was made by touch the

coin with PVC nylon. I know that from exepert, even in this

forum it is possible to search the word "pvc" and the seller

can see the demage of pvc that make to the coin. now we

use "mylar" , It said that it is not harm the coin. I search

about toning and I see "RAINBOW TONING" that is

beautiful toning. I saw many toning but not with only with

green color, so the green color is spots in the coin of the

seller. I can make more pictures and we (me and the seller

too) with you can say what he is thinking about the coin.

I can forgive what the seller make to me, the seller cause

me to be nervous and sadness so the seller cause me

demage and the seller have to pay for this. If the members

here will recommend to forgive to the seller I will consider

    to forgive the seller.

At first I apply to this forums to discuss about the coin,

beafore I apply to the seller.

Now I have to spend money for insured registered maik and

handling that is waste of my time and cost money, and

why I have to waste money for not good seller?

I want to now what the seller think and what do you think.

    Thank you very much.

Easy to see it has been harshly cleaned and the spots

Easy to see it has been harshly cleaned and the spots below the date really hurt it. Whoever cleaned it made no attempt to get the black color out of the date and lettering also - so not only harshly cleaned but badly cleaned - if either of those spots below the date are rim dings I would send it back. If not I would soak it in Coin Care or WD-40 for a month then take it out and blot it until the surfaces are dry and just keep it.

Wow. My opinion is that you were sent a different coin than the one posted on ebay. I would contact the seller and discuss your concern with them. Remember there is a return policy, but you have to comply with the time frame specified. Hope you can work that out with the seller.

Hey Mark, Thanks for coming into the forum and explaining your position on the specimen in question. It clears up some misconceptions. I think your return policy of a full refund should suffice and the buyer should accept that and move on , having learned something about coin photography , or keep the coin. In closing, I could see how the buyer might be taken aback by the coin in hand vs the ebay post image. Hope you folks work this out.

Avi I didn't get to see the coin as presented on EBAY before it was deleted but in trusting the majority opinion of the people in this forum it sounds as if you were mislead. Meanwhile we have heard from the seller and he seems to be willing to work with you with regards to settling this matter. This is the way the ebay system works. In my humble opinion the best you can ask for is for the seller to give you your money back and then all shipping costs, including the cost to send the coin back.

If what he wrote was true, that you asked for $40 extra, I have to say that was wrong and let me explain why. For all of us who collect coins there are many dead ends and hopfully a few fulfilling moments when the right coin drops into our laps. I have a friendly local coin dealer who knows me and called me to tell me about some Morgan silver dollars he had just received from an estate. I drove down and looked them over and didn't really like any of them. I don't believe that I am entitled to gas money and lost time just because my friend may have miscalculated what I was looking for. I don't know maybe this isn't a great example of what we go through to find great coins and how it relates to your situation but I believe that you should chalk the time spent working with this seller up to spent doing coin collecting stuff rather than having to wash the dishes or taking out the trash. If he offers you your full payment back then I would take away the negative comment but that's just me being a softy who knows.

It's simple - either you want to keep the coin or you don't. If not, contact the seller and return it. Abide by the terms as agreed upon when you bid - 7 day "no questions asked" money back, buyer pays return shipping.

Those are good terms, and this looks to be a very good seller.

So you bundle it up and return it - but NOT by registered mail ! This is a $65 coin !

No way is the seller gonna give you $40 for "wasted time". Forget it.

    ovah and OUT.

Plus you have not wasted anything!

No way is the seller gonna give you $40 for "wasted time". Forget it.

Plus you did not "waste" any time - it's called learning and your time was well spent. In the future you're not likely to forget this lession. Don't feel bad, "it's only money" that is the way we all learn and the painful lesions we learn the best!

I asked from the seller 20 USD for shipping

Insured and registered and for handling. I have to waste

time for that and I have problems with big money

(Thousands of dollars) and I give for this coin bid of 112

USD to win this first BUST half Dollar 1830 coin. If I give

To that coin big bid It means that I was sure that the coin

is as described, and I got very disappointment and sadness

Therefore I was crazy for this deceive. I ask for more 20

USD for sadness and for that the seller will not deceive

again other honest pepole ,and as it is in court trial.

When the seller come to this forum , I was quite relax and

Therfore I can forgive the seller and give up for 20 USD as

you recomend to me. Also I want that the seller will

participate this forum and write sometimes on coin.

I ask from the seller to see what you thinking and maybe

    we will resolve the problem.

Now I mean to invastigate this forum for hobby and getting

much more knowledge about American coins and coins from

    all the world.

I will upload more picture of this coin tomorrow.

    Thank you.

avi400 for a small coin like this with a value under $100 you are wasting money using registered insured as you could send it regular mail with insurance for far less money.

I agree with you that the coin is not beautifully toned however the pictures on Ebay do show problems in the area of the date 1830. Also the green color in the Ebay photos has been bleached out entirely which is not good.

If I was you i would send the coin back and take this as a lesson in buying coins from online merchants. I have purchased coins myself that when I received them they had problems and I sent them back.

If you want to avoid the problems of pictures then you can go to coin shows and look at coins before you buy them from dealers. This is sometimes a better way to see coins.

Agreed -- send it regular mail, with insurance, and for a mere seventy cents or so, you can purchase confirmation delivery, so that the item can be tracked.

What more does the seller need to do ?

He's given plenty of detail about the deal, the coin, and he's offered a full refund ! It's not reasonable to ask for more.

$40 for "sadness" ? "Wasted time" ? It takes more time to go through this thread than it takes to package the coin and send it off.

The tuition cost is very low on this one - less than $5 s&h.

And if there's any way to remove the negative feedback, I would do so ASAP.

Hi Again, So you folks here think I deliberately took these pictures (see my other post here) to deceive my bidders and buyers? I described in detail how I took the photos and why I took the photos in "white Light".
This coin ran on auction for 7 days and I added extra large photos to help show all detail on the coin. I also state in my auction ad "Photo is of actual coin you will receive, you grade". If there was any questions or concerns regarding condition (detail, more pics, etc) they should have been made before placing the bid, I mean this is just common since.
Also since AVI started bad mouthing me over the internet & here I have been getting all kinds of messages telling me I am a deceitful seller and my photos are criminal. This has never happened to me in my 11 years selling on eBay and I have done nothing different. As I also explained to AVI, do you really think I am out to rip-off & deceive everybody that bids on my auctions with a reputation like mine? If I was such a poor seller & bad person I would have a ton of negative feedbacks and most likely booted off eBay for it.
Looking back NOW I should have paid the extra $40 in hopes of saving my reputation. As it sits now the damage that has been done has cost me much much more than $40.
    Regards, Mark

Um....I just can not believe people here can not see that the seller ,Mlich, has gone out of his way to satisfy the buyer.

    Mark,
I think you have been more than reasonable to Avi. I wonder if in his country, if you feel mislead by a seller you can exchange the item plus get 160% of your money back. If so, I'd like to know where that is, because I'm on my way. Hey, a free vacation plus 60% more than what I spent because of "sadness" :crying:.

    Avi,

You don't like the coin? Send it back. 7 day money back guarentee...as a matter of fact, when Mark gets it back, I'll buy it off him.

    Mark,

Let me know when you get it, and I'll buy it for what he paid...you'll make more money too, because you won't have to pay eBay.

Oh yeah, Avi, in this country we don't whine and cry over little things, (well actually a few panty wastes do), but most people will try to use reason first. What you have done is sullied this man's reputation and business. I am adding him to my "favorites" on eBay because of your actions, and I hope eBay will remove the negative feedback you gave him.

It's time to grow up Avi, put on the big boy pants.

All I said was if he was unhappy with the coin to return it, that is the way Ebay works. It is hard to photograph coins and get an exact image of how they look, however I also said that can be avoided by seeing coins in person prior to purchasing.

I see nothing wrong with that advice, please don't take it personal. I actually have an 1830 half dollar and can tell by angling the coin it can seem very bright or very dark depending on how it is pointed at the light.

Avi, if you don't want the coin SEND IT BACK. If you don't want to bother...KEEP IT. Asking for $40 for sadness is ridiculous. Granted the photos sucked and made it look like 2 different coins (IMO), but Mark stated his return policy so use regular mail with insurance and delivery confirmation. And, consider this a lesson learned. You don't like the photo...Don't bid or buy.

All too often I've returned coins and ate the postage both ways. Now, I don't use ebay as often. Live and learn.

Don't be sad, be forgiving and then drop it.
