It's been down 2 days with no revival in sight. Finally admit they've been hacked, but say no client info has been compromised. All affected auctions will be held later.

Brings up some points on backing-up. First of course is do it, which I'm sure they did. Second is two words: "offsite, offline". Offsite is easy: use the cloud. Problem is that if you use the cloud or permanently attached drives for backup and get hacked, good chance the hackers will have access to your backup. Best is to use external hard drives or solid state drives for backup and periodically detach them and move them to an alternate location. Most companies and governments that have to pay ransom to hackers failed to do this.

Out of curiosity, how do ransomware hackers expect to get paid? Crypto currency?

I use their My Collection feature to manage my inventory, so it is affecting me as well.

Yup, in bitcoin to an email address or website that disappears as soon as payment is received. Cal

They're back up. Wonder how much ransom they paid. Cal
