    I only scanned the coin calligraphy sections, but the inscription may indeed be matched to auspicious or other categories. Its a lot of entries to go through.....

    Fair enough. I called it fake. The corrosion on the reverse is actually raised metal, which suggests that this coin was cast from moulds created by a crusty genuine specimen.

    @mrbreeze

    I was doing a little research, and I stumbled across the fact that two consecutive emperors at the end of the Tang Dynasty (905-907 AD) who used the reign title Tian You. I had said that the coin had a fabric of Song/Ming (looking again, I do not know why I said Ming), but it also has a Tang fabric. The use of reign titles on coins was not a normal practice until towards the later part of the Tang dynasty, so that is consistent. Perhaps this coin was a cheaply-made base-metal emergency coinage from right before the dynasty foundered? If so, it certainly would not be common at all. It's a possible theory, and considering that we have nothing better to go on other than it being a charm, it could be the case.

    I spent some more time researching it and could not find a parallel. My best bet is that it is indeed a charm. The character style seems to match from the late Ming to Qing. Also, lead charms mostly come from that time period as well. Post it a zenu.ru and see what comments you get there. There are some true experts operating on that site.
