I followed this thread from the beginning and I can think of one persons face I would like to rub this in if I were you. Congrats are in order... I really didn't pass judgment either way, I'm just glad you actually sent it in and we heard back from you!
Yeah, me too! I thought that it was going to be one of those situations like the one in July last year, when a new member claimed to have a 1965 silver quarter, promised a picture repeatedly, and never posted one.
In his defense, I have been searching for days through my MS-60 1794 Silver Dollars for Double Strikes and haven't found a one
Finally in A Holder. It is home at last. Check it out guys. It is now Officially official. Obverse Reverse
Congrats! Let's take inventory: You got a 93-s... nice! It's not worn flat... score! It has a rare rim error... ching! It was cleaned... Can't win 'em all, don't complain!
Looks like there will be an article in Numismatic News in the near future. They are scheduling An interview with a well know Morgan aficionado. I will post a link here first.
If I had that coin, I'd store it near paper or something and allow it to tone a bit. Not to jump on the AT bandwagon and decieve, but rather to give it some eye appeal. The surfaces of the coin are just kinda 'blah'... It needs some eye appeal IMO. (Not trying to detract from it's desireability of course!)
They DO exist...funny how we have yet to hear from the guy who said it was a screaming fake. Bet he's checking out a few of HIS coins now. Do ya think he will send you his 93-S? LOL LOL LOL!!!
I think healthy skeptisim was definately warranted at first. But to unilatterally and unbendingly declare it fake based on a few internet pics is asking to eat crow.
1893 s Key Date Railroad Rim article in The Numismatic News...Wow these guys work fast. http://www.numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=18379
Am I the only one that isn't a big fan of toned coins? I can see the beauty of a toned coin but honestly prefer my coins to look as close to the way they did when they were minted. Some tarnish is good to show off the highlights but the color is just a little distracting to me.
